Shareef Khan Football Club edged Barca Football Club 2-1 to clinch the inaugural IYWA Cup Football Tournament match at the Dunk Football Ground here recently. Spectators got a chance to witness fine football skill, excellent teamwork among the players of both the teams. The teams mostly comprised young players who were born and brought up in Saudi Arabia. They were accustomed to the playing conditions as they continue practicing throughout the year. Experience, however, prevailed over exuberance as Shareef Khan beat Barca. Mohammed Zamman netted both the goals for winning team and was declared the Player of the Match, while Waleed Shamlam scored the lone goal for Barca. The match referee, Mohammed Jaweed, was supported by Syed Kazim Hussain and Mir Fazal Ali as linesmen and Mir Taqi Ali was the fourth referee. Earlier chief guest S.D. Murthy, Consul Community Welfare, Consulate General of India, opened the 14-day league-cum-knockout football event. The tournament got off to a colorful start as all the participating teams took part in the inaugural ceremony in their team uniform. IYWA President Surendra Pal Singh welcomed the teams and the guests. The Indian consul community welfare, and Ramnarayan Iyer, Chief Patron of IYWA, also spoke on the occasion. Among the IYWA officials present on the occasion were: Syed Baqer Ali, Media Coordinator; Mir Gazanfar Ali Zaki, General Secretary; Anwar Ul Haq, Treasurer; Vice Presidents Hassan Bayazeed Ather, Zubair Mohammed and Aijaz Ahmed Khan; Event Coordinator Tanveer Siddiqui and Ather Jaweed. Masood Ahmed, International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) Prinicpal; Zafarullah Khan; Compensation Manager of Glaxo; Yusuf Ali Jaweed, Country Manager of Brunie Airlines; and Shamim Kausar, Chairman of Khak–E-Taiba, graced the opening ceremony as guests of honor. __
