Shelter for runaway maids busted

Police task force rounds up illegal runaway maids in an early morning raid on an illegal shelter for runaway housemaids in Jeddah on Thursday. The police found unrelated men sharing the house with the maids. Runaway maids say they leave their original employers for better pay of up to SR1,300 a month; a minimum of SR150 is paid to the broker providing the job and the shelter. By Ibrahim Alawi
