In a new bust on illegal activities in Jeddah operated by runaway housemaids, Amena, a Filipino female expatriate, was arrested by the deportation department in the early hours of the morning Monday with thirty other ladies of the same nationality. Amena used to hire overstayers to work illegally in party services such as weddings and funerals. Amena's team, which earned from SR 3,000 to SR 9,000 a night, used some apartments in Al-Rabwah District for their illegal activities. In the same area, the deportation department arrested tens of men and women of different nationalities for overstaying their visas. Some of them were selling vegetables and fruits in the open air. The police raid netted at least nine illegal residents sharing one room with only three beds. The room was rented to a legal resident who sub-rented it to illegal ones for SR50 each on monthly basis.
