Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Five youths have been arrested in connection with the murder of an Indian national, who worked as a baker in a grocery shop in South Jeddah, during a burglary attempt. More than SR37,000 in cash and calling cards was stolen from the store. The Indian national had worked in the Kingdom for more than 20 years. Police received a phone call from a Saudi citizen who said he found the body of the Indian with his hands tied inside the store. Forensic teams took fingerprints and collected evidence from the scene. Police began searching the area and digging the files of people with criminal records. Suspicions were narrowed down to an African man with a criminal record. He was seen with a group of four people from different nationalities. When police moved in and took the African into custody, he told the officers that he did not commit any murder and that he only assisted the others in the theft. The confession confirmed the suspicion and all five gang members were put under arrest. During questioning, they confessed to breaking into the store at around 2 A.M. and strangling the Indian who was working alone in the bakery. They also confessed to stealing SR34,000 in cash from a safe inside the store. A police source said the four gang members were aged below 24 years. __
