Rescue services arrived with ladders and cranes to help evacuate residents from a building in the Ghulail district after a fire inundated the area of south Jeddah with thick smoke on Tuesday. The Civil Defense said that the blaze was quickly contained after firefighters fought to prevent it spreading to nearby housing, most of which had wooden roofs. No casualties were reported. Investigators said that initial signs suggested the fire broke out in wood on the roof of the building.
