The Kingdom has reiterated its support for Lebanon's security and stability and condemned the sectarian violence there resulting in loss of several lives. The reiteration of support was contained in a message from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to Lebanese President Michael Soleiman sent Tuesday. “The Kingdom is following with great concern the developments in the Lebanese city of Tripoli which targeted a religious sect considered an important segment of Lebanon's social community,” the message said. The Kingdom, it said, has always been keen on Lebanon's security and stability in view of its sovereignty, national unity and regional integration. The Kingdom has spared no effort to support Lebanon, the King said, citing Taif and Doha accords. “Every possible effort has been exerted by the Kingdom together with other Gulf countries to help Lebanon achieve prosperity and development,” the King added. “We are looking forward to the prudent interference of Your Excellency to ... drive Lebanon away from the external struggles, particularly the ongoing crisis in Syria,” the King told President Soleiman.
