The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sent a cable of solidarity to Lebanese President Michael Sulaiman on the tragic sectarian incidents in Lebanon, leading to loss of souls. In his cable today, the Monarch said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is following with great concern the developments in the Lebanese city of Tripoli which targeted a religious sect considered an important segment of Lebanon's social community. Emanating from the fraternal relations between the Kingdom and Lebanon and the Kingdom's keenness on Lebanon's security and stability in view of its sovereignty, national unity and regional integration, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has spared no effort to support Lebanon, the King said, citing Taif Arrangement, Doha Arrangement. This is in addition to exerting every possible effort together with the other GCC member states to assist Lebanon economically to achieve its prosperity and development, the Monarch added. You might agree with me that such efforts, no matter what is their size and extent, would remain incapable to cope with the shortages unless all the Lebanese factions positively respond and prefer the interest of the country over their selfish sectarian interests, or those of foreign circles which don't want to see any good for Lebanon or the entire Arab world, he stated. Given the tense situation and the danger of crisis which might flare-up into a situation of disorder in Lebanon and send the country to the verge of civil war, we are looking forward to the prudent interference of Your Excellency to defuse this crisis within your initiative and patronage of the Lebanese National Dialogue and your keenness to drive Lebanon away from the external struggles, particularly the ongoing crisis in neighboring Syria, he told the Lebanese President.
