Sony announces winners of its7th Creative Science Award '12

Under the patronage of Prince Mohamed Bin Khaled Al Abdullah Al Faisal & Sony Gulf, FZE, Dubai, the final awards ceremony of the seventh edition of Sony Creative Science Awards was held at the King Faisal Foundation Hall (KFF) in Riyadh, recently.
In attendance were Prince Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Abdullah Al Faisal, President and CEO of Al Faisaliah Group; Dr. Khaled Taher, Supervisor General, Prince Salman Science Oasis; Bader Al Swailem, MD, Modern Electronics Company Ltd./Sony; and Atsushi Noda, on behalf of the Director of Sales and marketing, Modern Electronics Company Ltd. and Sony representative in Saudi Arabia.
“The actual purpose of the competition is not just the prize, but the final aim to unleash curiosity and scientific creativity in the minds of the younger students as youth represent more than 75 percent of the population in our beloved Kingdom, which means that utmost care must be given to develop interest in science in order to have a generation of young scientists who have the ability and willingness to turn our country into a knowledge hub,” Prince Mohammed said after the ceremony.
For the Arabic medium schools, this year's 1st prize winner was Afnan Abdullah Al-Amr from Al Tarbeya Al Islameya School, who got a gift check of SR10,000.
In addition, she was also rewarded with a special surprise tour/trip to Japan, which includes among other venues, a visit to Sony's headquarters in Japan, Prince Mohammed revealed.
The award for the best school (a gift check of SR4,000) went to Al Tarbeya Al Islamiya School for the most number of projects submitted.
The best teacher award (a gift check of SR2,500) was presented to Fatima Ateeq Meshfer Al Dossary, for having trained and helped the highest number of students to submit their completed science project work.
From the International Schools side, (for the English medium), this year's 1st prize winner was Master Mohammed Rohan from Al Huda International School. The 2nd prize winner was Master Mohammed Nirjas also from Al Huda International School. The 3rd prize for the science project category went to Master Sayed Moaz from the Indian International School, Riyadh.
