Yanbu Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP) has requested Yanbu Police to take into custody a man accused of locking up his daughter in a room on the roof of his house for the last 14 years. The case of domestic violence was reported by the National Society for Human Rights, according to Col. Fahd Al-Ghanam, Madina Police spokesman. Following the arrest, Yanbu Police inspected the room of the girl. They found it to include the basic amenities, with an air-conditioning, TV set, a small fridge and an attached bathroom, according to a report in Al-Madinah newspaper. The BIP ordered that the father remain in prison until further investigations are completed. Meanwhile, the daughter is to be transferred to Yanbu Rehabilitation Center as Yanbu Governorate does not have a social welfare center.
