TABUK: In new developments in the case here involving the alleged torture of two brothers, Abdul Rahman, 4, and Waleed, 7, investigators from the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP) visited the boys' family and found a considerable amount of incriminating evidence, officials said. Waleed's condition is now stable and Abdul Rahman, who has lost his hearing and sight, is still in the intensive care unit, according to authorities. He is suffering from kidney failure and his condition has been described as “life-threatening.” Investigators, police and technical staff visited the family's apartment in the Al-Murooj District and found a one-square-meter room – with no ventilation or air-conditioning – where the boys' father and his wife, the boys' stepmother, tortured the boys, officials said. Evidence showed that the children were confined in this small space for hours without being allowed to visit the bathroom, authorities said. The BIP team inspected the couple's bedroom and found a number of mobile phones, computers, a licensed pistol and medical cream used to sterilize wounds, authorities added. An inspection of the wife's handbag revealed a small note in her handwriting asking the husband to beat and scold his sons insisting that he should not show any mercy, according to authorities. The husband admitted that she sent him the note, authorities added. Investigators also found a long rope in the husband's car and he admitted using it to beat his children, authorities said. A female social worker has gathered information about the two boys and how their father and stepmother treated them, officials said. Officials have said they learned about the case after Abdul Rahman was taken to a hospital, a doctor had suspicions about the boy's injuries and he notified authorities. The boy's father is a security man who divorced their mother a year ago and remarried a few months ago, authorities have said.
