Jizawee, who appeared in the General Court Wednesday, attested his confession made to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP) on the 21,380 Xanax tablets found in his possession. The BIP recorded Al-Jizawee's confession on smuggling the drugs on April 29 after the Egyptian lawyer was arrested at Jeddah airport with pills hidden in eight milk packs and three wooden boxes for keeping copies of the Glorious Qur'an. Use and trading in Xanax is banned without medical prescription in the Kingdom. A representative of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) was present in the court. Meanwhile, Sulaiman Al-Hinaini, lawyer for Al-Jizawee, confirmed that his client made the statement in court. Al-Hinaini said he was awaiting completion of all investigation procedures and the leveling of charges against his client to prepare his defense. Some misguided individuals staged violent protests at Saudi diplomatic missions in Egypian cities protesting Al-Jizawee's arrest. As a result, the Kingdom recalled its ambassador to Cairo and closed its diplomatic missions in Egypt this week. __
