Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH/CAIRO — Relations between Saudi Arabia and Egypt are strong and won't be affected by some instigators making a hue and cry over the case of Ahmad Muhammad Al-Sayed, known as Al-Jizawee, who is under investigation at the Saudi Ministry of Interior, a senior Saudi official in Cairo said. Some agitators “not representing” the Egyptian people, protested in front of the Saudi Embassy in Cairo and Saudi consulates in Alexandria and Suez and made anti-Kingdom statements, Ahmad Qattan, Saudi Ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative to the Arab League, said Wednesday. “These instigators have ulterior motives. They won't succeed because the Saudi-Egyptian ties are solid,” he said. The ambassador said the Kingdom does not oppress anyone. “Al-Jizawee will be given all opportunities to defend himself,” he said. Mahmoud Ouf, Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom, admitted that Al-Jizawee tried to smuggle 21,000 Xanax pills into the Kingdom and was arrested two weeks ago at King Abdul Aziz International Airport. He hid the pills inside milk bottles and small boxes in which copies of the Holy Qur'an were kept. Ouf refuted claims that Al-Jizawee was imprisoned because of his political views. __
