Sandstorms and rain are expected over large parts of the Kingdom, possibly affecting Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Hail regions. The inclement weather will be associated with an increase in temperature, according to the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME). Also, thunder and cumulus rain clouds are expected over the southwest and western heights of Riyadh and the Eastern Province. The surface wind over the Red Sea will be southwest to west at a speed of 15 to 38 km/h, with waves of over 1.5 meters. The surface wind over the Arabian Gulf will be southeast to east at a speed of 15 to 35 km/h. The capital city of Riyadh has been experiencing inclement weather for the past two weeks with almost daily sandstorms and light to heavy rains in some areas. Residents here have been complaining of breathing and other lung related problems due to the severe sandstorms. Heavy rains have also been reported in Abha region where motorists are finding driving difficult due to low visibility.
