King approves upgrading of 18 governorates

King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has approved upgrading of 18 governorates from Category B to A. The decision also upgrades 28 rural centers in Category A to governorates in Category B.
Announcing this here Wednesday, Crown Prince Naif, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, said King Abdullah's order was based on Ministry of Interior's recommendation.
The ministry, the Crown Prince said, followed the Monarch's directives to develop regions and improve services provided to citizens and expatriates.
Accordingly, the ministry coordinated with emirs of regions and requested them to conduct comprehensive studies about development and service levels in their respective regions.
