Dar Jana International School beat Zahrat Alsahra School 1-0 to win the under-13 Volkswagen Junior Masters Soccer Tournament 2012 here recently. The two finalists will represent Saudi Arabia in the Middle East championship round to be held in Dubai on May 7. The other teams are from Qatar, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Eight schools participated in the knockout matches of the Saudi qualifying rounds at the American School grounds here. American School finished third and Jeddah Knowledge School came fourth. Abdullah Al-Fadhaaly from Jeddah Knowledge School was named the best player of the tournament. Abdulaziz Alrashid from American International School in Jeddah was the highest scorer. Mokhtar from Dar Jana was adjudged the best goalkeeper. Mohammed Mousa, Marketing Director of Volkswagen cars at SAMACO, said: “The matches were played with great fervor and the tournament was as successful as last year's qualifying rounds. “The tournament organized by Volkswagen Middle East has become an important platform to identify and promote young soccer stars of the region.” Parents, friends and fans of the young players were among the large number of people who had turned up for the final. Fathy Allam, Regional Sales Manager of Volkswagen Middle East, presented the champion's trophy to the winning team, medals to the runner-up, third and fourth placed teams, besides handing out awards and prizes to the outstanding players.
