A Sudanese man was beheaded and crucified here Friday after he was convicted of raping, robbing and killing a woman, a Ministry of Interior statement said. Abdulrahman Zine Elabidine was found guilty of “breaking into a house strangling its owner to death while she was asleep.” He also raped her and stole SR165,000 as well as gold jewelry, said the statement. The culprit then set the house on fire, it added. Saudi Arabia applies death penalty under the Shariah (Islamic) law for a wide range of offenses including rape, apostasy, armed robbery, drug trafficking and murder.
