A Saudi PhD student has won a top award at the Imperial College in London from the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE), a leading proponent of clean energy development. Yousif Bin Muhammad Annad Al-Shimiri was awarded the Outstanding Student Service Award for founding the student branch of the IAHE at the college. Al-Shimiri and the association's members have participated in several conferences on hydrogen technology development including the International Conference on Hydrogen Technology in September 2011. He has published several research papers in the International Journal for Hydrogen Energy, a top scientific journal. He also organized the first students' symposium on hydrogen energy at the Imperial College in October 2011 and one in November 2011 under the auspices of the Scottish Minister of Energy and Scientific Research. The Imperial College has been awarded the “Chartership Certificate” for setting up the first-ever branch of the association at a British professional institution and for its contribution to alternative sources of energy such as solar energy and bio fuel. Al-Shimiri was handed the certificate by Prof. Nigel Brandon, Director of the Future Energy Lab at the college. __
