Officials of news agencies of Gulf Cooperation Council states at the 15th meeting at the Council's Secretariat General in Riyadh, Sunday. — SPA photo Riyadh —The 15th meeting of the officials of news agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which concluded Sunday its deliberations at the Council's Secretariat General in Riyadh, proposed to set up a joint media working strategy. Abdullah Bin Fahd Al-Hussein, Director General of Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and the Chairman of the meeting, in his welcome speech, expressed optimism that the objectives of the meeting would be realized to keep pace with advances in the field of news agencies. Al-Hussein hoped that the news agencies will perform their leading role in serving joint media works of the GCC States at all levels. The meeting, which was attended by Khaled Ghassani, GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Cultural Affairs and Information, discussed issues related to news agencies, including consideration of a joint media working strategy and a proposal of the secretary general to open unified account on social interaction networks. The meeting agreed on a proposal by the Kingdom of Bahrain to launch a unified account on YouTube and hold a workshop and training course for technicians of the news agencies of the GCC states at Bahrain News Agency in the field of social interaction networks. The meeting also reviewed the proposal by the Saudi Press Agency on the use of advanced satellite system used by the Saudi Press Agency.
