A group of Jeddah youths have set up clean mobile prayer areas and provided water for ablution and loudspeakers in different areas of the Corniche here, setting a example of a new kind of volunteerism. Amr Bajuwaibir, one of the volunteers, says that it is good that youths are available at the Corniche to set up these mobile prayer areas and that their only reward is the smiles that they get from grateful people. He pointed out that the program aims to provide visitors to the Corniche with a clean place to pray as mosques are far away and there is no source of clean water for ablution. “Our task is to set up a complete prayer area that can accommodate 50 worshippers and provide water for ablution besides loudspeakers to announce the prayer and an Imam to lead the prayer. All this support has come from philanthropists under the supervision of the Call and Guidance and Awareness for Communities Agency. The program has also provided a bus and guidance and awareness leaflets,” Bajuwaibir said. Abdulaziz Al-Sufyani, the program's Imam, described the project as a voluntary one aiming to serve society, particularly picnickers. As an Imam of one of the mobile prayer areas he expressed his great happiness every time they complete a prayer and he finds that he has led a large number of worshippers, who have benefitted from the project. __
