Qusaiba Town is situated in the heart of Al-Qassim where residents enjoy recounting anecdotes and stories that remind them of the ancient history of the area. The town is only seventy kilometers away from Buraida and is surrounded by mountains on all four sides, providing magnificent views. According to several accounts, Qusaiba has the largest number of archeological sites in Al-Qassim. Saleh Al-Radi, an archeologist, said the town has historical palaces such as Antara and beautiful mountains, as well as an old cemetery which does not face the Qibla. This proves that the town existed well before the Islamic era, Al-Radi pointed out. The town played an important role in the foundation of Saudi Arabia and King Abdul Aziz, the founder of the Kingdom, visited it three times in 1904, 1918 and 1922, Al-Radi explained. “King Abdul Aziz launched some of his battles from Qusaiba and the residents of the town are proud of this fact.” Qusaiba also used to be the place where merchants on their way to Iraq, Al-Sham and Egypt would rest and have some water and dates, Al-Radi said. “Al-Mashqooq Palace, one of the well-known palaces in the region, hosted several historical figures such as King Abdul Aziz.” Antara Palace is located on a mountain to the west. Antara Bin Shadad was a famous Arab poet who was born in Qusaiba. One of the springs of the town is called Abes, which is the name of the poet's tribe. __
