Abeer Medical Group ACC-A and ABC Cargo Real Kerala FC fought out to a thrilling but goalless draw in a tense First Division match of the 16th SIFF-Western Union Soccer 2012 at the Ministry of Education Stadium here Friday. Earlier in a Second Division match, Emami Blue Star-B recorded its second straight victory by beating ABC Cargo Yas Club 1-0. Whereas Yas's record stands at one draw and one loss. The three-month long event is mainly sponsored by Western Union Money Transfer and supported by Al-Abeer Medical Group, Naseem Jeddah Hospital, Jeddah National Hospital and Rose Biriyani Rice. Blue Star has to thank its goalkeeper Adham Kabeer, who stole the show, for the vital three points. He excelled under the bar by saving a penalty from Ashraf of Yas. The only goal of the match was scored by Mukhtar. Kabeer was adjudged as the Player of the Match. The speedy second encounter thrilled the crowd as both the teams went all out for a win and it produced waves of attacks at both the ends. But unfortunately the all-important goals eluded. A talented side Real Kerala which struggled to combine in its opening match and disappointed against Friends was very impressive and matched the champion in all aspects. ACC A almost scored early in the first session when defender Jaleel connected a corner by Najeeb but the ball bounced from the cross bar and diving header by Safeer sailed over. At the other end skipper Altaf Rahman was creating openings and Kabeer tried some powerful long shots. After a free kick which was wasted by Ichapu Ashraf, the defender showed his mettle with a cracking shot which tested the rival goalkeeper. Ashraf was selected as the Player of the Match. Though Real Kerala lost its defender Mohammed Muneer to red card the ten-man team fought till the final whistle.
