Bassami Cargo Friends Club made an explosive start by running over ABC Cargo Real Kerala 4-1 in a First division match of the 16th SIFF-Western Union Soccer 2012 at the Ministry of Education Stadium here Friday. Earlier in two Second Division matches, International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) and newcomer Jeddah Sports Club (JSC) scored identical 2-1 wins over Bharat Recreation Club (BRC) and Combined Brothers respectively. The three-month long event is mainly sponsored by Western Union Money Transfer and supported by Al-Abeer Medical Group, Naseem Jeddah Hospital, Jeddah National Hospital and Rose Biriyani Rice. Studded with stars of Jeddah Bassami Friends exhibited fluent combination while ABC Cargo struggled with imports. From the kickoff Friends showed urgency, shifted into top gear and maintained the momentum till the final whistle. After Shanavaz converted a penalty, speedy Azeez struck twice for a 3-0 lead in the first session and Haris completed the tally in the second session. ABC, however, scored a consolation goal through Magdoom. Azeez was adjudged as the Player of the Match. In the first match, the bustling boys of IISJ upset the apple cart of a well-prepared BRC striking twice quite against the run of play. Nikhil converted a penalty to give IISJ lead while Badrudeen leveled for BRC. Player of the Match Furkhan Mahdi clinched the winner for IISJ in the second half. In another match, making debut in this 16-year-old tourney JSC made its presence felt by beating Combined Brothers who belied their name and looked a disjointed lot. JSC stuck to the basics of the game and took a 2-0 lead by half time through Abdul Nazar and Illyas. Brothers, however, saved their face with a goal by Riyas Poochingal. Illyas of JSC was adjudged as the Player of the Match.
