Killing of innocent Syrians must stop immediately, the Kingdom has reiterated. “Immediate cessation of bloodletting and acts of violence in Syria is of utmost importance at this juncture,” the Cabinet said at a meeting here Monday. The Cabinet meeting, presided over by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, stressed on the implementation of Arab League plan that has received wide global support and was adopted by the UN General Assembly. The Kingdom also underscored the importance of dispatching relief and humanitarian aid to the thousands of displaced Syrians. According to UN estimates more than 30,000 Syrians have fled to neighboring states and another 200,000 have been displaced within the country by the past 12 months of deadly violence. Dr. Abdul Aziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, said the Cabinet underscored the huge economic role of the Kingdom in supporting developing and emerging countries. The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's endeavor for the global economic growth even in the face of high oil and energy prices. Therefore, the Council of Ministers stressed that the Kingdom will work individually and in coordination and cooperation with the GCC countries and other oil-producing countries in OPEC and outside it and with the consumer countries and through the international energy forum to provide sufficient oil supplies and ensure the stability of the oil market and the return of the oil prices to reasonable levels. The Cabinet approved a proposal from the Crown Prince to set norms for employing relatives of martyrs and admit them in universities and colleges and to provide transport facilities to them. The martyr's family includes his wives, children, parents and other dependents according to the Shariah. The martyr's family should get priority in getting scholarships, the Cabinet said.
