Under the patronage of King Abdullah, the 3rd Gulf Environment Forum will be held in Jeddah on March 25-27. Prince Nawaf Bin Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of Saudi Environmental Society (SENS), said that more than 1,000 researchers, experts and personalities interested in fields of environment and sustainable development will attend the three-day forum. Launched in March 2010, the GEF is organized by the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment. The first event of its kind to be held in the Kingdom, GEF 2010 was officially opened by Prince Turki Bin Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz, President of PME and attracted royal and ministerial attendees, as well as exhibitors representing 23 countries from around the world. SENS is a nongovernmental organization dedicated to support the government in its environmental protection effort and enhance public participation and voluntary work of all community sectors in this regard in Saudi Arabia. Its mission is to provide advisory, research and educational services, in partnership with public and the private sectors in addition to the civil society organizations in Saudi Arabia, and to strengthen cooperation and coordination among them in the field of environmental protection to achieve environmentally sustainable development in accordance with international standards.
