A Polish man who was swept out to sea was rescued after a 40-hour search operation by 15 Tabuk Region Border Guard vessels and helicopters from King Faisal Air Base and Saudi Aramco. Jean Licewiski, 42, was heading to Dhiba Port from Hurgada region in Egypt on a windsurfing board when he encountered turbulent weather and high waves. Maj. Gen. Muhammad Al-Thumali, Commander of the Border Guard in Tabuk region, said: “The Border Guard Command in the region received a report at 8 P.M. last Friday from the Search and Rescue Operations Coordination Center for the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba Axis in Makkah region about losing contact with a Polish seafarer. Immediately, medium and long range marine vessels belonging to the Border Guard went into operation along with two helicopters from King Faisal Air Base in the Northwestern region and others from Aramco Aviation to support the search and rescue operations.” After spotting the Polish seafarer, rescue teams immediately pulled him into one of the Border Guard vessels. They then carried him by Air Force helicopter to Dhiba Governorate Hospital. __
