Maritime teams of the Sea Frontier Guard Sector in Umluj freed an oil ship Friday after it ran aground on a coral reef near Al-Fawaidah Islands, which are located northwest of Umluj. The ship, which was carrying 15 Chinese men including experts in oil exploration and is owned by an oil exploration company, got stuck in a reef and tilted over to one side, officials said. A Sea Frontier Guard patrol from Northern Al-Harra Station was carrying out its normal rounds when it noticed the ship, which ran aground northeast of Mount Hassaan Island, and reported the incident, officials said. The operation center in the Sea Frontier Guard Sector dispatched five vessels to the site and rescuers developed and executed a plan to ensure the passengers' safety and free the ship, under directives of Brig. Gen. Muhammad Bin Mahmood Al-Thumali, commander of the Frontier Guard in Tabuk Region, officials said. Hadi Al-Qahtani, the company's representative in Umluj, arrived at the scene and thanked the Frontier Guard Command in Tabuk Region for their efforts.
