Beware of fabricated Stories (Part 12)It's very important for a Muslim to be aware of evil things when they seek to know the good. This was the practice of our beloved Prophet's (peace be upon him) companions, too, to ask Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) about evil for the fear of falling into them as one could easily get trapped unintentionally. Narrated by Hudhaifa Bin Al-Yaman, people used to ask Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) about the good, but I used to ask him about the evil lest I should be overtaken by them. So I said, “O Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him)! We were living in ignorance and in an (extremely) worst atmosphere, then Allah brought to us this good (i.e., Islam); will there be any evil after this good?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “Will there be any good after that evil?” He replied, “Yes, but it will be tainted (not pure.)'' I asked, “What will be its taint?” He replied, “There will be some people (propagating Islam) who will guide others not according to my tradition (Qur'an and Ahadith)? You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of some others.” I asked, “Will there be any evil after that good?” He replied, “Yes, (there will be) some people calling at the gates of the (Hell) Fire, and whoever will respond to their call, will be thrown by them into the (Hell) Fire.” I said, “O Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him)! Will you describe them to us?” He said, “They will be from our own people and will speak our language (Qur'an and Hadith, but impure).” I said, “What do you order me to do if such a state should take place in my life?” He said, “Stick to the group of Muslims (i.e. to the group which only treat Qur'an and Ahadith [sources of Islam]) and their Imam (ruler).” I said, “If there is neither a group of Muslims nor an Imam (ruler)?” He said, “Then turn away from all those sects even if you were to bite (eat) the roots of a tree till death overtakes you while you are in that state.” (Bukhari and Muslim) A few lessons to learn from the above Hadith are: 1. We should have knowledge of evil things as well, in order to remain safe. 2. There will be people who will propagate Islam with impure information and knowledge. 3. Look for the Muslim group who consider and follow the Qur'an and the authentic Ahadith only. A fabricated story which contradicts the pure teachings of Islam goes as, that once Mawl?n? J?m? decided to go for the Haj pilgrimage after composing a poem. He intended to stand at the blessed grave and recite his poem. Upon completing the Haj and before heading towards Mad?na, the Governor of Makkah saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his dream. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told him in his dream, “Do not let him come to Mad?na.” The Governor of Makkah stopped him from proceeding to Madina. However, his intense love and yearning for the Prophet (peace be upon him) was so intense that he secretly went to the city. The governor of Makkah saw the same dream yet again. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “He is heading towards Mad?na. Do not let him come.” The governor then sent two men in his pursuit who imprisoned and punished him. The governor saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) for the third time in his dream. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “He is not a criminal that he should be imprisoned. He has composed a few verses of poetry which he intends to read at my grave. If he does so, my hand will come out of my grave to shake his hand and this will cause people to fall into tribulation.” Thus, he was released from prison and treated with great respect and dignity. There is a hidden message in this story which spoils the faith. However, people will never realize it unless and until they are informed! In another story it says “Sayyid Ahmad Rif?? is amongst the famous saints of the S?fiy? and his story is famous. In 555 AH, he presented himself at the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and recited two verses of poetry. The blessed hand of the Prophet (peace be upon him) came out of the grave and Rif?? (may Allah have mercy on him) kissed it. (extracted from The Virtues of Haj and Durood) The above two fabricated tales portrays that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is still alive in a worldly sense and is aware of whatever is happening in Madinah. On the other hand, on comparing the lives of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) companions, they lived in tribulations too after his death. However, the Prophet (peace be upon him) never came or sent a message to his companions in order to pull them out from their distressed state. Hence, it is very clear that these stories are baseless, they have nothing to do with Islam and they just spoil one's faith. Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid said, “The basic principle concerning the dead is that they do not hear the words of the living sons of Adam, because Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “but you cannot make hear those who are in graves.” (Qur'an, 35:22) [email protected] __
