JEDDAH — Young Star defeated Pepsi Alliance in a thrilling final to bag Indomie Champions Trophy 2017 for JSCL Season II at BMT Grounds in Bani Malik. Young Star, opting to bat, got off to a flying start as their opening duo Amir Siddique and Babar Sher put on 67 runs before Amir got out for 42 off 23 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes. Babar continued the onslaught with Rafaqat to get his team to a descent total of 157-4 in the allotted 12 overs. Babar Sher scored 70 which was laced with 2 boundaries and 8 sixes. Rafaqat made 20. Jawad took 2 wickets for 36 runs and Israr 1 for 20. Pepsi Alliance, chasing 158, lost its opening batsman Asif Alavi for 7 and Daniyal for 8. Ahmed Rizvi and Humayun put up a partnership of 67 for the third wicket but Massod got key man Ahmed Rizvi who scored 37 off 19 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Humayun was run out on 39 and wickets kept falling at regular intervals for Pepsi Alliance as it managed only 129, losing the match by 28 runs. Furqan Altaf was the pick of the bowlers for Young Star. He bowled a fierce spell taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs. Masood was the other bowler who jolted the Pepsi Alliance batting lineup by taking 3 for 25. Babar Sher was named the Man of the Final for his scintillating knock of 70.
