ALJ Div-II sees exciting matches

JEDDAH: In a crowded schedule on the second week of action in Abdul Lateef Jamil Company (ALJ) Division-II matches Reel & Rom gained a 7-wicket win over Bupa; KAIA beat ACC by 75 runs; BTC downs Pak Young by 168 runs; Desert Warriors upset Young Athletes by nine wickets; Butt Sports beat Deccan Knights by 5 wickets; while while Sigma Paints Cricketers secured an eight-wicket win against Saliheen.
In the first encounter of the tournament organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association Bupa, batting first, was bundled out for 140 against Reel & Rom. Munir Ahmed was the wrecker-in-chief. He took five wickets which including a hat trick in his fourth and maiden over. He gave away 22 runs.
Bupa skipper Imran was the highest scorer with 31. Others who contributed runs were Mohammad Makki 26, Irfan 14 and Qayyum 13. Khurram bagged three wickets for 25 runs, while Franky David and Wajid bagged a wicket each for Reel & Rom.
In reply Reel & Rom reached the target 142-3 in 13 overs. Imran Khan scored 50, Wajid 45 and Zubair 15. Ayub, Imran and Makki bagged a wicket each for Bupa.
The second match saw KAIA take the strike first against ACC and make 189-5 in 18 overs. Imran (3) and Shoukath (5) failed to impress with the bat. Tanvir Ahmed scored 101 runs off 50 deliveries; Mohsin 28; and Shafique 21. Ayub grabbed three wickets, while Abid bagged one for ACC.
ACC in reply could score only 115-2 in 18 overs. Babar 35, Tabriz 20, Hassan 16 and Abid 15 were the scorers. Shabbir and Amjad had a wicket each for KAIA.
Another match saw BTC pile up 287-4 against Pak Young. Anwar Malik hit 157 runs off 58 deliveries. Shafi added 63, Athar Kamal 20 and Obaidur Rehman 11. Akmal took two wickets while left-arm spinner Gohar Tauqir Shah and Eng. Riyaz Afridi bagged a wicket each.
BTC in reply could score only 120-8 and lost the match by 158 runs. Akmal scored 36 runs, followed by Umar 29, Gohar Shah 18 and Eng.
Riyaz Afridi 11. Shafique grabbed three wickets, while Rafeeq and Obaidur Rehman bagged a wicket each for BTC.
Another match saw Desert Warriors down Young Athletes. Batting first Young Athletes scored 148-7 in 18 overs. Sami Khan made 51, Iftekhar 48, Abdul Wahid 15, Khalil 9, but the dependable Shaad Mohammad Khan went for a duck. Saleem took three wickets, Quddus two, and Waliallah one wicket for Desert Warriors.
The Warriors in reply reached the target 152 for the loss of one wicket in 16 overs. Syed Aleem remained unbeaten on 86, while Raziuddin made 37 not out. Young Athletes' Sami bagged the only wicket to fall.
Butt Sports also scored a thrilling win over Deccan Knights. Batting first the latter made a paltry 132 all out. No. 8 batsman Jawad was the highest scorer with 34. Alam added 25, while Inayathullah and Anwar Shah made an identical 11 runs each.
Adil, Bakhtiyar and Jawaid Butt took two wickets each while Omar Suwaidi bagged one.
Butt Sports reached its target 136-5 in the 17.5 overs. Samer was the man of the match with his 53 runs.
Tariq Siddiqui added 40, Junaid Butt 17 and Omer 10. Alam bagged two wickets, while Umar, Ayaz and Jawad grabbed one wicket each for Deccan Knights.
Another match saw Saliheen put on 167-5 in 18 overs against Sigma Paints. Imran Butt 54, Irfan Butt 49, Haseeb 23 were among the runs.
Nadeem picked up three wickets and Zaheer had two, while Asim was happy with his one wicket.
Sigma Paints reached its target 171 for the loss of two wickets in 13 overs.
Nadeem Ahmed hit 75, Numan 48 and Saleem 24. Irfan grabbed one wicket as Sigma Paints scored an eight
