Deccan NRIs group honors community members

JEDDAH — Deccan NRIs group, active in assisting community members, celebrated their 11th annual function at a local restaurant here recently. They honored members of the Indian community for their dedicated services to better others' lives.
Deccan NRIs group President Mohd Abdul Razzaq presided over the function while Mohammedd Ali, director Jeddah National Hospital, was the chief guest of the event.
Many prominent members of the Indian community attended the program along with the members of other charity organizations.
Abdul Razzaq, in his address, said: "The Deccan NRIs group has worked to their strategy during the past 11 years and has been instrumental in tackling issues such as widow's allowance, food package for widows and orphan children, and financial help for poor patients etc."
He said to create awareness among people regarding community services, Deccan NRIs group every year honors three members of Indian community for their dedicated services to community, and this year noted members of the community, Shamim Kausar from Khake-Taiba Trust, Yousuf Uddin Amjad from Bazm-e-Ittihad and Ameen uddin Ansari from Urdu News daily were felicitated for their role in the society.
Mohammed Ali praised the work done by Deccan NRIs group and appreciated their efforts of helping the needy in society. He said: "Deccan NRIs group is doing great social services work and they will surely be rewarded by Allah. It's really commendable to please Allah by serving mankind."
He stressed the need to understanding Qur'an in our own language.
Dr. Karimuddin, a Jeddah-based pediatrician and educationist, said, "Deccan NRIs group is doing excellent work, and the social services they are doing are really commendable".
He encouraged the members to continue the noble work. He also advised others to follow the same path.
Addressing the crowd on the occasion, Shamim Kausar said, "Receiving this award from the group is indeed an honor for me. For long the group is doing great work, and their efforts in social upliftment is appreciable.
Yousufuddin Amjad said, "I am getting this award from a group which is very sensible and functional. This group is led by youth; it is a great virtue because whenever our youth aims to serve a cause — they succeed."
Ameenuddin Ansari said, "Though the group was formed only a decade ago, but group's activities have been commendable in such a short span. They have taken up issues of the people and their work is admirable. They have aimed high and succeeded with all their efforts."
He expressed his pleasure at the group's choice for this award and praised the activities of Kausar and Amjad.
Mohd Nomanuddin, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin and Aleem Khan Falki also spoke at the event. They congratulated the group for arranging a successful program and praised their work.
General Secretary of Deccan NRI group, Meraj Ali Akhtar anchored the program. Mirza Ghayasuddin Baig, vice president of the group, delivered the welcome address.
Other members Hamid Ali Matahir, Rashid Mohd Abdul Razzaq, Mohd Abdul Wahab, Nizamuddin Shakeel, Mohd Rizwan, Nizam Uddin Farooq, Syed Masood, Shoeb, Danish Qadeer, Shamsuddin Qazi, Syed Abdul Kaleem, Khaja Moiz Alam, Mehboob Ali, Ismail Sharif and Zulfiqar lent support tot the organization of the event.
