JEDDAH — ALS Warriors had the last laugh against IDB Group by 10 runs and AOT downed MCC by 29 runs in the WPCA Premier T20 Tournament here.
ALS Warriors defeated IDB Group by 10 runs. ALS Warriors racked up 174-4, thanks to an unbeaten 102 in 65 balls, studded with 5 sixes and 7 fours, by Abdullah Essa. He added 75 with Azeem (36). Fahad stroked 18. A wicket each was taken by Abdullah Shah, Farooq Mohammed, Shabbir and Fiaz.
In reply, IDB Group was stranded at 164-6. Kashif scored 22, Fayyaz 40, Shabbir 37 and Mohammed Farooq 31. Safi took 2-30, while one wicket each went to Fahim Afrad and Haider.
AOT crushed MCC by 29 runs. AOT plundered 176. Maqsood Ahmed top scored with 61 in 33 balls. Qaiser Lateef hit 31, Awaiz 23, Rafeeq 22 and Moiz 15. Ahsan Maqsood was the pick of the MCC bowlers with 4-22. Sohail took 2-32, Khalid Butt 2-10 and Babar 2-50.
MCC was bundled out for 147. Zeeshan top scored with 53 in 27 balls, followed by Ali Ansar (28) and Ramazan (21). Qaiser Lateef grabbed 3-30, Faisal Mehmood 2-24, Moiz 2-26 and Naeem Shah 1.
Afternoon T20
Thrilling matches were witnessed in the WPCA Afternoon T20 with Waqas Malik XI, Azeemi Travels, OMD Tuskers, Aftab XI, Zultrack and Al-Safri emerging winners.
Waqas Malik XI downed Lothers by 4 wickets. Lothers top order failed and it slipped to 49-4. Then Khurram Azeez (22), Mohammed Shibu 24 and Mohammed Asif 42 stabilized the innings to get to 141.
Waqas Malik XI batted well to get to the victory target of 144-6 in 95 balls. Waqas Malik stroked 27, Hafiz Adeel 28, Rana Haroon 35 and Zahoor 17. Badushah took 2-23.
Azeemi Travels won against Mercedes Benz by 5 wickets. Azeemi Travels chasing 190 to win reached 191-5 in 117 balls. Waqas Khan hammered a match-winning 68 in 34 balls as he added 85 with Shakir (18). Hafeez remained unbeaten on 33 and Farhad hit 23. Najma Uzbak took 2-38.
OMD Tuskers trounced Thales Group by 5 wickets. OMD Tuskers raced to 139-5 in just 87 balls. Sabur hammered 55 in 37 balls. He also added 55 with skipper Yashik Alangad (33). Shamsuddin made 16 and Mahesh an unbeaten 15. Yasir took 3-28 and Abid 2-26.
Aftab XI continued its winning run, thrashing Gujarat Eagles by 7 wickets. Gujarat Eagles posted 182 through Adnan (44), Rashid (32), Mukhtar (25) and Usman (30). Aftab took 2-35 and Nayyar 2-36.
Aftab XI got to the winning target of 188-3 in just 75 balls. Nayyar Fareed blasted an unbeaten 63 in 29 balls, Danish Hameed 67 in 21 balls and Shahid Sattar 31.
Zultrack scraped through against Marine Services by 2 wickeys. Marine Services posted 139-7. Saad made 26, Umair 24 and Riaz 17 not out. Khan took 2-16, Amjad 2-24 and Waqas 2-35.
Zultrack, in reply, reached 140-8 on the last ball of the day. The architect of this victory Waqas remained unbeaten on 37, Qaim Khan hit 26, Mohsin 21, while Ijaz Khan and Subail made 15 each. Asad scalped 3-14.
Al-Safri prevailed over Contraco by one wicket. Contraco managed 171-6. Contraco was reduced to 79-6 with the top order crumbling. Moon Shah scored 29 and Afzal Ahmed 28. Asif Mehmood then compiled an unbeaten 39. He added 92 for the unbroken 7th wicket with Rasheed (46 not out). Aftab Malik took 2-26 and Manjeet Kumar 2-32.
Al-Safri, in chase, got to the winning tally of 172-9 in 116 balls.
Rehan made 41 and added 57 with Hasanat Ahmed (36). Al-Safri suffered a mini collapse by losing 3 wickets for 10 runs. But then Afatb Malik hit a match-winning 42 not out. Asif Mehmood took 3-24, Asif 2-31.
