Shahid blasts 143; Bilal and Mohammed excel

JEDDAH — Crown Steel and IDB Group won their respective matches in the 35 overs Premier Division though Mohammed excelled with 94 in a losing cause in the WPCA Afternoon T 20 Phase 2 tournament here at the Eskan grounds.
Crown Steel beat ALS Warriors by 5 runs. Imran Azam topscored with 79 in 70 balls and with Hussain Bhatti (39) got his side to 185 from a disastrous start. Junaid hit 23 and Usman 12 then boosted the tally to 253. Khurram Karamat (10), Shafeeq (15), Anwaar Chandi (19) and Javed Iqbal (13) fell early. Azeem had 3 for 26, Haider 3 for 41, Safiuddin 2-50 and Abdulaleem 1-47.
Mohammed Khan batted well for his 94 in 66 balls as he added 116 for the second wicket with Abdullah Essa (30) after losing Ramazan (11) early. Azeem then compiled 27, Talha 28, Saim Sherwani 30 n.o. and Abdulaleem 11 n.o. as ALS requiring 15 runs in the penultimate over could make only 9 and lost — 248 for 5. Shafeeq, Anwaar Chandi , Junaid, Hussain Bhatti and Javed Iqbal had a wicket each.
IDB Group racked up 318 for 7 in its 10 runs win over AOT. Zahid Bhatti hit an unbeaten 79 in 31 balls (8 sixes, 2 fours) as he along with Shabbir 69 not out off 47 balls hit 99 runs in the last 36 balls to tally 318. Irfan Shah (51 in 37 balls), Obaid 33, Hashim Khan 16, Usman Gulab 13 and Mohammed Farooq 14 contributed. Gulam Abbas took 2-25, Gulam Mustafa 2-59, Rameez, Rafeeq and Waqas had a scalp each.
AOT replied with 308 for 8 as Ghulam Mustafa smashed 85 in 67 balls (7 fours) adding 108 with Rafeeq (41). Earlier Aqeel 28 and Faisal Mehmood 19 set the tone. Later Naeem Shah hit 64 in 26 balls (2 sixes, 9 fours) to add 73 for the seventh wicket. Waqas (22) then brought AOT close. Hashim Khan took 2-61.
United Cricket Club, Jotun Paints, Nestle Milo, Aftab Cricket Club and Zultrack won their respective matches in the WPCA. Shahid Sattar with 143 and Bilal Malik with 5 wkts shone in WPCA.
UCC beat Waqas Malik XI by 34 runs. UCC tallied 149 for 9 with Obaidurrehman (35), Imran Asad (19), Shahnawaz Khan (30), Ahmed Faraz (18), Ibrar Khan (18) and Wajid (12) starring. Aatif took 2-26 and Zahoor 2-40. Waqas XI was bowled out for 115. Farid (38), Tauseef (17) and Zahoor Ahmed (17) dazzled. Shahnawaz Khan took 3-27, Ahmed Faraz 3-23 and Yasir Ameen 2-18.
Jotun Paints, scoring 182, defeated Azeemi Travels by 45 runs. Shabbir (51 in 29 balls) added 61 runs with Shahid (43). Usman (29) and Shafeeq (20) boosted Jotun. Farhat took 3-51 and Asad 2-28. Azeemi Travels then managed 137 for 9 as Yousuf took 4 for 25. He was supported by Akram 2-29. Raja (42), Asad (26), Khalil (17), Farhad (16) and Waqas (10) stood out.
Nestle Milo, 146 for 6, thrashed Marine Services by 57 runs. Waseem scored 32, Abdullah Zahid 23, Sher Bahadur 25, Fiaz Lalla 32 and Imran Sarwar 14.
Zain took 2-30. Marine Services was bundled out for 89. Bilal Malik 5 for 25 and Sher Bahadur 3 for 19 were outstanding. Sohail (39), Saad (10) and Atif (11) contributed.
Zultrack humbled Continental Transport Co., who totaled 89, by 8 wickets. Continental's Mohaj (11), Anil (12), and Qureshi (13) stood out. Aijaz and Yasir took 2 wickets each. Zultrack hit 90 for 2 in 56 balls. Mohsin made 46 n.o., Omer Mukhtar 21 and Kashif 12.
Aftab CC, amassing 277 for 7, crushed Contraco by 134 runs. Shahid Sattar hit a scintillating 143 in 52 balls (9 sixes, 15 fours) as he added 69 with Waqas (32). Nayyar made 32, Waqas scored 27 and Shahryar 14 n.o. Contraco made 143 for 6. Amjad made 55 n.o. in 33 balls as did Babar 29, Azhar 17 and Rameez 10. Yasir took 2-11.
