JEDDAH — Al-Saudi Green trounced Sadafco by 5 wickets to win the coveted SCC Morning T20 Cup 2016 in style. The SCC Morning Tournament, sponsored by Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC), witnessed 144 matches with 30 teams in the fray. SCC Premier T20 was won by Friends XI and SCC Afternoon T20 was clinched by Al-Safri XI. On a windy and cold afternoon after drizzles in the morning the match started with usual fun and frolics. Sadafco, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted 166 in 20 overs. Ali Jaan Mugheri scored 28 in 20 balls with 3 hits to the fence. Zubair stroked 39 in 24 balls with 6 fours, Khurram hit 32 in 21 balls with 5 fours and Afridi blasted 41 in 27 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes to post a respectable total after losing wickets at regular intervals and being 22 for 2 early. Mazhar Abbasi picked up 3-38, Abbas Nadwi 3-25, Adil 2-31, Owais 1-18 and Munzir 1-28. Al-Saudi Green, in response, reached 167 for 5 in 98 balls. Kamran hit 40 in 16 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. He added 51 runs for the fourth wicket with the top scorer and the Man of the Match Mazhar Abbasi who made 67 in 39 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes after they lost skipper Nadeem Saad (1) and Abbas Nadwi (8) cheaply. Nazeer Farooqui remained unbeaten on 31 off 19 balls with 5 fours and Faisal made 10 in 8 balls to win comfortably. Afridi grabbed 2-31, Sajid 1-16, Iqbal Patel 1-31 and Saqib 1-34. Man of the Final award went to Mazhar Abbasi for his 3 wickets and 67 runs. The match was supervised by umpires Sohail Shah and Waseeq Sherwani.
