Crown Steel, IDB Green in semis
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 12 - 2016

Crown Steel will play against IDB Green and My Care & Hala (MCH) will face Asdaf XI in the semifinals of the SCC T20 Cup, organized by Madinah Cricket League (MCL) and sponsored by Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC).
In the last two quarterfinals, Crown Steel defeated Jutt XI in a nail-biting encounter and IDB Green outclassed Madinah Strikers in a one-sided match.
Crown Steel won the toss and elected to bowl first on a windy afternoon. This decision proved to be a right as Jutt XI openers struggled from the start. Hammad Saeed and Shahid delivered outstanding spells and restricted Jutt XI in power play. Naeem showed some resistance and made 43 runs, Hassan supported him with 38 and Bilal 16. Jutt XI was bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs. Shahid showed his class while taking 5 wickets, Usman grabbed 2 and Hammad 1.
Crown Steel while chasing started very well. Hammad Saeed produced a quick fire 39 from 16 balls and Khalid 20 off 10 balls. Jutt XI bowlers did their best to get back into match and succeeded by taking some quick wickets. It was the day of Usman who scored an unbeaten 40 off just 16 balls. Crown Steel achieved the target in 19.2 overs and won the match by 3 wickets.
In the second match, IDB Green defeated Madinah Strikers easily by 7 wickets. Opting to bat, Madinah Strikers made 160-9. Vasee hit 44, Shoaib 33 not out and Sohail 21. Brilliant bowling handed Israr, Javed and Nadeem 2 wickets each.
While chasing, IDB Green lost an early wicket on the first ball of the innings but Madinah Striker's bowlers were helpless against a strong batting lineup of IDB Green. Tariq blasted 67 in 26 balls. Its all-rounder Israr remained unbeaten on 47 off 19 deliveries. Jawaid made 34. IDB Green achieved the target in just 15.3 overs. Moin, Ayoub and Patel took 1 wicket each. — SG
