A pedestrian wooden bridge on Madinah Road in Jeddah partially collapsed after a tipper truck hit it on Saturday morning. Vehicular traffic on the road, one of the main arteries of the city, was suspended for several hours following the accident. The truck driver was taken into custody and the bridge was closed for maintenance. A number of cranes were involved in removing the debris from the scene. Officials of Jeddah Municipality, Traffic Department, Civil Defense, and Red Crescent Authority rushed to the scene. No injuries were reported as morning traffic on an otherwise busy road was thin because of the weekend.
