The Indian Community Jeddah (ICJ) organized a ceremony to thank the dedicated staff of the Consulate General of India by appreciating their sincere services rendered to the Indian Hajis during Haj 2016. Consul General Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh presided over the function with Deputy Consul General and Consul Haj Shahid Alam setting the ball rolling by lauding the team for their yeoman services, before a few community leaders representing different Indian organizations in Jeddah. "I have to thank this team for the near flawless services we rendered to our pilgrims," Alam said, adding, "It was their enthusiasm and effort that made my work easy on the first Haj on charge." "Though I had worked with the CG (the last's year's Haj consul) then briefly to acclimatize with the system in place, this year's Haj was my first as the person in charge. I had the good fortune of getting our CG back before the Haj started and it was a great help in rendering services without hiccups," Alam added. On his part, Consul General Sheikh shared his experience of managing Haj in a new role and applauded the support given to him by his team, especially Shahid Alam, Consul Haj. " We could not have done much without the help of this dedicated team and the dedicated volunteers of the community. It is this synergy that has allowed for such services to be provided to the guests of God." Sheikh did stress that the Consulate's efforts needs to be complemented by the community, not only during the Haj but also in all other humanitarian efforts. All attendees of the function praised the role of Consulate staff and ensured their continuous support from the Community in every aspect, but more so when it comes to guests of Allah. On behalf of Indian Community Jeddah, a plaque was presented to Shahid Alam by the Consul General. — SG
