Public education plays a vital role in society. It helps to prepare a generation that loves knowledge and realizes its importance. A highly educated generation can help improve the qualify of life in a given society. Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah, Minister of Education, will open Sunday night in Riyadh the regional workshop “Improving Total Quality of Public Education in the Arab World,” which is organized by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultureal Organization (UNESCO) This workshop aims to focus on the efforts of the academic sector to raise the standard of the country's education and to implement the vision of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The King's vision calls for making the Kingdom a country which applies higher standards of education and for setting up a regional center to raise the quality of public education under the supervision of UNESCO. The workshop's goal is consistent with the aim of the Ministry of Education to search for new ideas and innovative initiatives to attain global levels of quality in public schools and higher education as well as other related fields. That makes this workshop important. The workshop will discuss key issues in the field of education and how to raise the standard of education on the national and regional levels to help open a new horizon for the public education sector. __
