Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah, Minister of Education, has approved the formation of a higher committee for Total Quality Management “TQM”. “The establishment of this committee is aimed at promoting the total quality culture in society as well as building an institutional framework in the ministry that leads to the optimized output of the educational system in the light of reference standards,” said Mohammed Al-Dukhaini from the Ministry of Education's General Directorate of Educational Media. The higher committee will be chaired by Dr. Khalid Bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Education and Noura Bint Abdullah Al-Fayez will act as its vice chairperson. According to Al-Dukhaini, the TQM committee will work as a reference and indicator to measure quality in education, access reports and studies on total quality, and work to build effective partnerships with private sector and non-profit organizations for the implementation of comprehensive quality programs. In addition, it is tasked with identifying channels of communication with national and regional bodies and international organizations concerned with the total quality of public education. “The TQM committee's priority is the adoption of strategic plans and projects, programs and budgets for total quality, and approval to publish the terms of reference, specifications and indicators to measure quality in education,” he added.
