A total of 49 Filipino amateur photographers, advanced hobbyists and photo-enthusiasts successfully completed a digital photography training session entitled “One-day Gray Digital Photography Workshop” held at the La Parilla Restaurant in Jeddah recently, according to the organizers of the event. Professional photographers and IT and digital imaging experts from the Computer Society of Filipinos Intl., Inc. (COMSOFIL-Central) were trained by Jaime “Jimboy” C. Dayrit and Jorge Nathan Amores both veteran photographer lecturers with expertise in portraiture, human interest and advanced graphics, and photoshop illustrations. “The project was aimed at discovering and developing potential talent, even beyond this workshop of budding Filipino photographers, as well as providing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Kingdom with the opportunity to showcase their creativity by joining an organized photography workshop,” President Danie Cortez of the COMSOFIL-Central told the Saudi Gazette. An array of interesting topics in digital photography was presented — from photographic techniques, understanding the different modes and functions of digital/DSLR cameras from f-stops, shutter speeds and ISO settings, compositions, framing, depth-of-field, lenses and photo enhancements up to the final digital process using software from camera to the computer. The one-day seminar/workshop was jointly organized by the COMSOFIL CENTRAL and JEDDAH Chapter.
