A group of Filipino information technology (IT) specialists recently launched a series of intensive leadership training seminar/workshops in Riyadh. Dubbed “Training the Trainers” and “Teamwork and Decision Making Process,” the seminars were held at the Riyadh International School (RIS), organizers said Saturday. The seminars sought to strengthen the teaching capability of Filipino volunteer IT instructors, assistant instructors as well as technical and support staff of the Computer Society of Filipinos International (Comsofil), Comsofil officials said the professionals had to undergo the training to revitalize their skills in teaching Filipino workers who want to upgrade their knowledge in information technology. The first phase of the series was “Train the Trainers” presented by four resource speakers on Oct. Oct. 23. The resource speakers included Marilu A. Moreto and Ronie Cario, The second topic was presented by COMSOFIL Instructors Ronie Cario, Edwin Fontiveros and Gil Tabalbag. The second phase, “Leadership Training Series 2009” was held Friday. The resource speaker was Rufino I. Jacobe, a member of the Toastmaster and S.E. Productions Events director. Present during the seminars were Comsofil officials Edwin Fontiveros, Adolfo Muga Jr., Romwald Miranda and Nomer Cenil. Other officials were Jovet Lopez, secretary of the Board of Trustees, Salvador S. Villalino, Comsofil newl elected president for 2010, and Celso Ditalo, vice president for education.
