FAME wins again in Seiko–JBL

JEDDAH — FAME of Miramonte Brothers defeated Leylaty 93-88 for its second straight win in the Seiko Watch-JBL Basketball Tournament at the Khalidia courts here.
The loser was in the lead till the third quarter. The winner's trapping defense worked wonders as the loser committed crucial errors in the last quarter. Garcia topscored with 37 points for the winner and was adjudged the Seiko Watch Player of the Game. Fernandez had 22 points for the loser.
The tournament is principally sponsored by Seiko Watch of Al-Hussaini & Al-Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Hussaini) with the co-sponsor Nesma Airlines (Faisal Al-Turki), Rabea Tea, Giordano Fashions (Ahmadullah), New Cabalen Restaurant (Japh Villanueva), R. Printing (Ric Santos).
Paul Taguba beat Jeddah Clipper 73-68. Paul Taguba led the winner with 17 points and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game. Mateo chipped in with 30 points for the loser.
In Friday's games, JDC All Star A of coach Yusuf Almeda downed Briman Islamic Center 80-62. Jameel Cobre collected 41 points for the winner and was named the JBL Player of the Game. Lapiz netted 16 points for the loser.
Knights of coach Rey Maddatu defeated New Cabalen/R Printing 95-87. Garcia topscored with 28 points for the winner and was adjudged the New Cabalen Restaurant Player of the Game. Geronimo topscored for New Cabalen/R Printing with 20 points.
Pazadaure of coach Ray Mangohig beat KD Tambayz 95-83. Gonzales posted 34 points for the winner to claim the Seiko Watch Player of the Game. Danayan led the loser with 28 points.
Wasalak 40's of playing coach Fred Conception thumped Gensoul Lion 91-65. Sta Maria collected 32 points for the winner and was adjudicated the JBL Player of the Game. Lazaro scored 14 points for the loser.
Meanwhile, S.N.K.S.J. (Samahan Ng Kabataan Sa Jeddah), a group of Filipino youngsters, has formed a group of basketball players dubbed JBL Teens. This group is playing under the umbrella and supervision of Jeddah Basketball League and supported by their parents. Their first project is a mini-barkadahan basketball league every Saturday afternoon at Khalidia basketball court.
The JBL Teens officers are: Mohamed Acub, Piolo Rivera, Gab Carbo, Justin Durante, Jacob Petilla, Wayne Allen, Marky Dianalan, Abdul Abdulaziz, Ramand Mamak, Baseem Asla, Bobby Manalumba, King Acosta and Benett de Borja.
