JEDDAH — The JBL opened its second conference project for 2016 dubbed Seiko Watch – JBL Basketball Tournament last weekend at the Khalidia basketball court here. Twenty-eight participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony, which was presided over by JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and Tournament Director Donald Doloso. Bro. Ahmad Peradilla of Jeddah Dawah Center gave an inspirational speech to open the tournament. Sheikh Abu Abdurahman of Briman Islamic Center started the ceremony with his inspiring welcome address. Bro Jameel Cobre of JDC All Star Team headed the Oath of Sportsmanship. The awards for the Best Team in Uniform were picked up by Leylati (Jerome Posadas), ICTHUS (Dennis Elmenzo) and Fakieh Group of Companies (Ruel Bristol) for Inter-Company. Jacob Jeddah KSA (Ariel Acedera) and Khalidia 40s (Coach Gary) for 40 & above Category and JDC Legend (Shareef Castillo) for Inter-Dawah Category. Best Mascot awards went to JDC Legend, Khalidia Balik Islam, JDC All Star A, Fakieh Group of Companies, ICTHUS, Khalidia Tambayz, Jeddah Thunders and Khalidia 40's. In the opening game, Khalidia Tambayz of coach Gerry Acosta beat Sunbulah 104-86. The winner displayed organized basketball throughout the game. Javier top scored with 20 points for Khalidia Tambayz and was adjudged the Seiko Watch Player of the Game. Fuentes had 39 big points for the loser. The tournament is principally sponsored by Seiko Watch of Al-Hussaini & Al-Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Hussaini) with the co-sponsor Nesma Airlines (Faisal Al-Turki), Rabea Tea, Giordano Fashions (Ahmadullah), SIPCO, Cabalen Restaurant and Ric Printing. Fame of Miramonte Brothers defeated Thunders 105-54. The winner applied run and gun offense up to the final quarter. JR Garcia scored 24 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game. Mickey Selva chipped in with 29 points for the loser. In the 40 & Above division, Gensoul Eagle of coach Alex Musngi downed JACOBS Jeddah 77-73. Mike Joson contributed 24 points for the winner and was named the JBL Player of the Game. Dela Rosa netted 26 points for the loser. JDC Legend of coach Ricky Abdulaziz Yu beat JDC All Star A 93-79 in the Inter-Dawah Division. Waleed top scored with 22 points for the winner and was judged the Seiko Player of the game. Jameel Cobre scored 47 points for the losing cause.
