Toyota Motor Corporation's Middle East and North Africa Representative Office (MENARO) Saturday confirmed that no malfunction or abnormalities were detected in the cruise control system of the Land Cruiser. The statement is based on various tests conducted after Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ), Toyota's authorized distributor in Saudi Arabia, received a report that a customer was unable to stop his Land Cruiser 200 when driving in Hafr Al-Batin. Several government agencies in the Kingdom including the Ministry of Commerce, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), Motor Vehicles Periodic Inspection (MVPI) stations, Traffic Department, Abdul Latif Jameel and Toyota's Jeddah Liaison Office (JLO) conducted tests between Jan. 8 and 10 to investigate the matter. The tests showed that the vehicle operated normally. Toyota Motor Corporation also tested the cruise control system on the Land Cruiser in Japan between Jan. 13 and 15 and the results were completely normal as well, and no malfunctions were detected. The Land Cruiser has a long and illustrious history and ever since it was first launched in 1951 in the Middle East with over a million cumulative sales, customers have appreciated the comfort, luxury, reliability and pleasurable driving experience of the vehicle in the toughest of driving conditions, a press release issued here said.
