New housing projects in 118 cities By Saud Al-Rushood Okaz/Saudi Gazette HAIL – The Ministry of Housing plans to build homes for citizens in 118 cities across the Kingdom, said Dr. Shuwaish Bin Saud Al-Dhuwaihi, Minister of Housing. The projects will cater to the needs of all income groups, including more affluent people, the minister said during a tour Thursday of the Hail Housing Project of 1,201 units. Al-Dhuwaihi said there are two ministry housing projects in Jeddah — one near the new King Abdulaziz International Airport site and the second in downtown Jeddah. Both projects are being planned and designed. He added that government land has been set aside in Makkah for housing project . Al-Dhuwaihi rejected accusations that some projects have been delayed in the Kingdom. He added that there have been slight delays, but this has not affected the progress of the work. He said the ministry's officials are aware of the urgency of the projects. He said the ministry is making sure that the housing projects meet the highest quality standards and the country's developmental goals. During his meeting with Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Toub, Mayor of Hail region, and the mayoralty's officials, the minister said the new land allocations were for the second phase of the Hail Project. He said new housing projects in Bag'aa and Al-Ghazalah are being planned. Al-Dhuwaihi said his office was open to the ministry's officials, journalists and citizens. __
