Terror crimes on the decline, asserts Al-Issa WASHINGTON — Terrorism-related crimes have dropped in the Kingdom because of the government's awareness and education programs, fair and impartial judiciary and preemptive strikes on terrorists, said Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Minister of Justice. The minister made the statement during a meeting with Eric Holder, Attorney General of the United States and senior officials of the US Ministry of Justice in Washington. “The Kingdom's judiciary protects legitimate rights and freedoms. We should draw a clear line between freedom and chaos. Modern theories indicate that freedom and responsibility are two sides of the same coin and should not be treated separately.” Regarding donations and terrorist financing, Al-Issa said that the government has taken strict measures against this and has arrested and tried those involved. The Minister of Justice said that the Kingdom's history over the past 100 years was one of moderation. Extremism was a new phenomenon and does not emanate from Saudi society. “Islam is based on peace and coexistence with civilizations and religions. This was reiterated by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, who has repeatedly called for interfaith dialogue,” he said.
