The department has deployed adequate number of medical staff inside the mosque as well as its plazas, said Dr. Mustafa Baljoun, director general of the department. "We have raised the preparedness of Makkah hospitals to deal with various health conditions," he said. "We have allocated 302 beds in the intensive care units, 325 beds in emergency wards and 1,677 beds in general wards. We have also manned the Haram Emergency Hospital with specialized doctors to extend quality health services," he said. Baljoun said the department would mobilize all its human and material resources in the service of the guests of Allah. Dr. Hattan Boujan, director of the department for emergency and crisis management, said 10 medical teams including doctors and nurses from nearby hospitals in Makkah, Jeddah and Taif have been deployed in the courtyards around the Grand Mosque. "These teams are placed in five locations. Medical evacuation services are also provided with the support of Civil Defense Department," he said.
