JEDDAH — The newly elected AMUA Jeddah team hosted iftar for Aligarians here, a huge number of Aligs and families attended the event at Lasaani Restaurant. The iftar party included the installation of newly elected AMUA executive committee. The event started with a dua by Bahjat Ayub Zinjani, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Fahad Zinjani. Senior Alig Mohammed Mian, the election commissioner introduced Azizurrab, new president of AMUA, to the community. Azizurrab introduced the executive committee 2016-2018, which included Nooruddin Khan, vice president, Asim Zeeshan, general secretary, Anwar Bilgrami, joint secretary, Ather Rasool, treasurer, cabinet members included Imtiaz Hussain Ahmed, Abdul Baseer, Aqeel Jamil, Mohammad Sirajuddin, Mohammad Ateeq Siddiqui, Rabnawaz Khan, Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan, Shams Tabrez Alam, Gufran Nishtar. He highlighted the achievements of the previous committee under the leadership of Farzan Ahmed Rizvi, the outgoing president, notably among them were the contribution of Rs. 25 lakhs during the visit of AMU Vice Chancellor Retd. Lt. Gen. Zameeruddin Shah, contribution & commitment of community for Jeddah Hostel (70 rooms) in Riyadh Hall at Aligarh. Aligs Jeddah also contributed for Zakaat Foundation of India during the recent visit of Dr. Zafar Mahmood for sponsoring trainees and the training center at Delhi. Azizurrab vowed to continue working for the welfare of Alig & Indian community in the future. The committee is also involved in iftar Drive to labor camps during Ramadan, he said. Farzan Rizvi, congratulated the new committee and wished them good luck. He also gave a talk on Ramadan and highlighted the formation of Zakaat Fund by AMUA Jeddah in 2014. He urged Aligs to contribute to the funds generously so the welfare and charity works continues. Asim Zeeshan thanked the community for their overwhelming support and Nooruddin Khan presented the vote of thanks. Notable among the attendees were Dr. Ali Ghamdi and visiting guest Dr. Nafees Ahmed, Mohammed Mian Hashmi and Pervez Khan election commissioners. Around 350 Aligs and families attended the event.
