JEDDAH — The Jeddah chapter of Aligarh Muslim University alumni (AMUA) has formed a new committee for next two years 2016-2018 after the term of the previous committee expired, a three-member supervising committee announced. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is one of the pioneer educational institutions of India. Many alumni of AMU have been living and working in the Kingdom. A committee of 14 members was formed to represent AMU Alumni, Jeddah chapter. Additionally outgoing president will be part of the committee as an adviser. The new office bearers are, Azizurrab, president, Nooruddin Khan, vice president, Asim Zeeshan, general secretary, Ather Rasool, treasurer, and Anwar Bilgrami, joint secretary. Committee members are: Imtiaz Hussain Ahmed, Abdul Baseer, Aqeel Jamil, Mohammad Sirajuddin, Mohammad Ateeq Siddiqui, Rabnawaz Khan, Prince Mufti Ziaul Hasan, Shams Tabrez Alam, Gufran Nishtar. A three-member election commission supervised the event that included Siraj Siddiqui, Pervez Khan, Syed Mohd. Ahmed Hashmi. election commissioner, did a great job and was appreciated by Farzan Rizvi, outgoing president. The highlight of the event was unopposed election of all committee members, the overwhelming response of community and their support was fantastic. "The messages received are mirror image of Aligarh spirit," said newly elected President Azizurrab. Aligs in general congratulated the newly formed committee. "The new AMUA-Jeddah committee embarks on an ambitious plan to work for the welfare of the AMU alumni in particular and the Indian community in general," he added.
