The labor and social affairs ministries have formed a joint committee to provide training for orphans under the Hafiz program and to ensure they get jobs, said Dr. Muhammad Al-Harbi, Director of Orphan Welfare at the Ministry of Social Affairs. Al-Harbi said plans are underway to provide for 3,000 male and female orphans. A total of 250 have already joined the King's overseas scholarship program, he added. Al-Harbi said orphans get SR3,000 a month until the age of 26, but can get SR860 monthly from the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) after this age if they are unemployed. He said assistance is also provided for married female orphans depending on the financial circumstances of their husbands. He said the state wants to support all orphans in the country. __
