Some 85 orphans from across the Kingdom have been awarded scholarships to complete their higher education abroad. The scholarships are part of a care package program the Ministry of Social Affairs has provided to the orphans, said Mutalq Al-Hantoosh, acting undersecretary for social care and development. “Orphan students sent on scholarships will have the freedom to choose any field of study they want,” he said. The first batch of the scholarship program will include 27 female and male students, the second 16 students, and the third 15 students. A special committee comprised of officials from the ministries of Social Affairs and Higher Education was formed to look into scholarship applications submitted by orphan students. – Okaz __
